There will be forum at VCU Commons on tonight discussing the occupy movement from a variety of perspectives, including yours!
Forum Agenda:
This forum will be held as a modified general assembly w/ time for open discussion after the speakers.
7-7:15 introduction and overview (vcu students)
7:15-7:30 what is a general assembly? how does consensus work? (liz canfield)
7:30-8:15 invited speakers include:
–adria scharf: peace movement perspectives on #OWS
–the conciliation project: social justice through artistic expression and critical dialogue
–southerners on new ground: grassroots organizing in the south around issues of gender, sexuality, race, class, and immigration status
–professor mark wood: the origins of the economic crisis and class-based implications of the crisis
–professor archana pathak: international perspectives on the occupy movement
–vcu student testimony
–student loan debt expert on why students should care about the economic crisis
–reflections from the RVA occupation
8:20-9:00 soapbox: open time for the attendees to speak (1-2 minutes apiece)
After the forum ends, speakers and community members will be available to have smaller group discussions.
